Has your energy plummeted since the spectacular eclipse season of August? September may not present as many striking astrological events, but it will be a month full of the tension, confusion, chaos, conflict and consequences that are the fallout of eclipse season.
September 1st – 10th
The good news is that eclipse season is over for the year. The bad news is that the first week of September triggers the eclipses, so that the tension created in August is released, for better or worse. Tuesday September 5th Mercury stations direct at 28 degrees Leo (6:29 AM CST), ending the typical logistical issues and mental slowness associated with Mercury retrograde. Mercury stations direct at the same degree as the August 21st New Moon Total Solar Eclipse aka “The Great American Eclipse”; Mercury is the bearer of all news, and I expect that some major headlines will coincide with Mercury stationing direct at the eclipse degree. Pay attention!
September 5th/6th will see a Full Moon at 13 degrees Pisces (September 6th at 2:03 AM CST), the first lunation since the eclipses. It’s common to see the first lunation after an eclipse bring out the full scope of the eclipse into sharp focus. This underscores Mercury retrograde ending at the potent eclipse degree and further suggests that September 5th – 7th looks full of wild surprises, at home and globally.
In better news, Mars leaves Leo and enters Virgo September 5th (4:35 AM CST) until October 22nd. This brings relief! Mars was involved in both August eclipses and kept things agitated and inflamed. In Virgo, Mars’ war path is waged in the analytics of the material mundane world, a very handy influence in sorting out the details of the new directions so many of us have laid before us now.
Also this week, Jupiter direct in Libra conjuncts the fixed star Spica, one of the most fortunate of the fixed stars. If you can find your feet amid the turbulence, you might see opportunities that others miss and make it work to your benefit.
Mercury direct leaves Leo and re-enters its own sign of Virgo on September 9th (9:52 PM CST) conjunct fixed star Regulus. This is another date to watch for unfolding political events. Mercury remains in Virgo until September 29th, again allowing for cooler heads to bring order to the chaos.
September 11th – 17th
Venus in Leo trines Saturn in Sagittarius at 21 degrees each sign on September 11th-12th. This is a good aspect for turning small pleasures or gifts into solid foundations. Benign aspect beneficial for chilling out and calming down overworked nerves. However, the same time frame will also see the Sun in Virgo square Saturn, which is like storm clouds ruining a picnic. Just enough tension to keep anyone from getting too comfortable.
September 12th in particular looks eventful, with the Moon in Gemini aspecting the Sun in Virgo, Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces to form a mutable T-square configuration, alongside a kite configuration formed by a grand fire trine compromised of Saturn in Sagittarius, Venus in Leo and Uranus in Aries aspecting Jupiter in Libra. A feeling of everything and nothing happening at once, but certainty that fate is at work.
September 13th-14th Venus in Leo conjuncts the North Node in Leo and opposes the South Node in Aquarius at 22 degrees. Venus is the love and relationships planet, and the Nodes are eclipse points, so this time could be fateful for relationship changes that took place during the August eclipses. Venus is also the planet of cash money, and changes in both personal finance and bigger financial markets are to be expected. Venus in Leo sextiles Jupiter in Libra September 14th-15th providing an easy solve for some and overconfidence in others.
Mercury conjuncts Mars at 7 degrees Virgo September 15th-16th, kicking up the atmosphere in inflammatory and agitated ways again. Angry words and missives issued here.
September 18th – 24th
The Sun at 26 degrees Virgo opposes Chiron at 26 degrees Pisces September 18th-19th, giving a heavy but temporary feeling of overwhelm, world weariness, fatigue. Do watch out for mental and physical health. Venus at 27 degrees Leo trines Uranus retrograde at 27 degrees Aries September 17th-18th which can provide some fun distraction if one isn’t in too negative a mood to receive it.
Venus enters Virgo September 19th (8:15 PM CST) until October 14th. The beauty-in-everything planet struggles in the often cold and nitpicking sign of Virgo; money and romance can struggle to express themselves as easily as they did over the summer. September 19th/20th will be a New Moon at 27 degrees Virgo, which isn’t dramatic in and of itself besides being the first New Moon since the August 21st eclipse.
September 22nd the Sun enters Libra (3:02 PM CST) for the fall solstice, and we’re in the season of relating to others in both harmony and conflict with Jupiter at the end of Libra challenging us to get diplomacy right… or else.
Mars at 12 degrees Virgo opposes Neptune at 12 Pisces September 23rd-24th; another moment of fleeting discouragement and confusion.
September 25th – 30th
Jupiter at 27 degrees Libra opposes Uranus retrograde at 27 degrees Aries September 23rd-28th, the final time for this aspect as Jupiter will enter Scorpio on October 10th. We end September feeling wildly optimistic… or wildly overconfident… or wildly in need of freedom and change. This aspect can be positive or not, depending on how it’s used. The better use would be balancing out the collective last minute urge to fight for freedom at all costs by reaching out to others and building teams; fighting war with love. Yeah, like anyone is doing that at the moment…
Pluto in Capricorn stations direct at 16 degrees on September 28th (2:35 PM CST) conjunct the Moon at 13 degrees Capricorn. The Moon represents a nations populace and sensitizes us to the larger cycles at work; what we’ll be feeling – both individually and collectively – is the growing ugliness shaping up in political spheres (Capricorn).
Mercury enters Libra September 29th (7:42 PM CST) until October 17th. September ends with our minds focused on decision making – an appropriate close to such an active season!
